Statement:

A feeling of presence and an acceptance of the surroundings, at different levels of realism and abstraction, is at the nature of my current work. The goal is to create a “sense of place” in which to share an impression of mood and atmosphere along with an appreciation of the subject.

The horizon plays an important part of my affinity for the landscape. It is the dividing line that signifies not only the tie between the conscious and the subconscious as well as the line that indicates the point where the limitation of reality and the shifting possibility of the infinite meet.

I also have a strong appreciation of trees. They add a great amount of dignified life to our surroundings.

Using memories of my travels, along with photos and sketches I create an interpretation of a landscape, a scene, or a space defined by emotional expression.

Bio:

After earning my BFA at Pratt Institute I went on to explore the commercial side of art as an illustrator and then as a designer in textiles and home furnishings. I became a design director with several companies. Throughout my experience in the commercial world, I never stopped painting. In whatever time I could find I continued my fine art studies and explored my craft.

I have exhibited in Manhattan at the Professional Artist League and the Salmagundi Club. On Long Island I have shown at the Long Island Art League The Huntington Arts Council as well as at the Long Beach Art League, the Art League of Nassau County and at the Barnes Gallery.

My artwork is in various private collections.
